Our work in Haiti
Mary’s Meals is serving more than 196,000 children in Haiti
Haiti is one of the poorest nations in the world, ranking 166 out of 193 countries and territories in the Human Development Index (HDI).
Natural disasters and violence are key drivers of food insecurity in the country – and millions don’t have enough food to eat. Haiti is still reeling from the devastating earthquakes and hurricanes of 2010, 2016, and 2021 and is in the grip of an ongoing humanitarian crisis driven by widespread gang violence.
Despite considerable logistical and security challenges caused by the instability, our partners – Caritas Hinche, Summits Education, and BND – work with us to deliver school meals to more than 196,000 children in over 670 places of education cross Haiti’s Centre and West departments.
