Praying as a Mary’s Meals community

One of the beautiful parts of the Mary’s Meals global family is the different ways that people can be a part of our global community.  We often talk about using time, talent and treasure as a way to work together to help feed more children in their place of education.  We see beautiful examples of these areas from everyone who acts and speaks on behalf of the world’s poorest children. From Little Lulu’s Soaps, to Dennis and Jerry 'Cycling for God's Children', to people who create their own awareness raising events. Our grassroots community is simply incredible!

Over the past few months, we’ve seen an increased amount of people who have wanted to join in community to pray for the work of Mary’s Meals.  Prayer is an active response to the feeling of “holy discontent,” or the idea that there are things that we want to be a part of reconciling while we are here on this earth.  For many people, the first and most effective action is to pray.

For that reason, we’ve started a monthly prayer group.  Every month, we send a short email with a prayer request for what is most present on our minds as we continue to move the work of Mary’s Meals forward. The email is simply a prayer, but we believe that the power of joining together as a community of people united in that action is one of the most significant things that we can do.
