Marketing and Email Coordinator

Mary’s Meals USA 

Mary’s Meals USA (MMUSA) raises awareness and funds to support school feeding programs in some of the world’s poorest countries, where hunger and poverty prevent children from getting an education.  Mary’s Meals USA’s headquarters is located in Bloomfield, New Jersey. The position of Marketing and Email Coordinator is a remote position, with occasional domestic travel for meetings and business support. The Marketing and Email Coordinator will join a team of four marketing and communications professionals within the Marketing Communications Department. 

Purpose of the Marketing and Email Coordinator Role 

This is a key role in implementation of the strategic priority to broaden the awareness for Mary’s Meals in the U.S. and increase the organization’s base of donors and supporters. The Marketing and Email Coordinator works as a liaison between the MMUSA Marketing Communications department and the MMUSA Development and Operations teams, as well as Mary’s Meals International (MMI) Communications team. This role is expected to act as project coordinator for the projects managed by the Marketing Communications function and communicates goals, deadlines, and project requirements to other employees. Additionally, the Marketing and Email Coordinator creates a variety of emails for campaigns to targeted outreach. The role also ensures the Director of Marketing & Communications is up to date on the progress of critical projects. 

Principal Duties 

The Marketing and Email Coordinator reports to the Director of Marketing & Communications. In addition to managing the marketing programs and projects, this role actively participates in strategic planning for the Marketing Communications Department. On a project-by-project basis, this role is responsible for fully understanding an internal customer’s needs and determining whether the organization can meet those needs. In addition, this role works with the Director of Marketing & Communications to establish a working rhythm and strategy for the department. The Marketing and Email Coordinator monitors projects and programs to ensure they are delivered on time, on budget and meet the stated requirements. This role will liaise with and manage external service vendors, as needed. This role works with internal customers to define their goals for each project, ensures alignment within the current strategic plan for MMUSA, and creates a project plan with the service areas required to do the work. 

Additionally, the Marketing and Email Coordinator manages the Mary’s Meals email platform (Dot Digital) with responsibility for successful email campaign delivery and all tracking, data analytics and list management. The role will also manage the Mary’s Meals Shopify platform and be responsible for its management and related analytics.

Additional duties for the Marketing and Email Coordinator include: 

  • Communicating with internal customers and gathering information about a project's scope, budget and timelines. 
  • Meeting with other MMUSA leaders to discuss internal customers' project goals, progress, and outcomes.
  • Contributing to Creative Briefs to initiate major projects and contributing to After Action Reports to assess the major projects and recommend refinements for the future. 
  • Developing detailed project plans for major initiatives.
  • Managing and prioritizing all marketing communications projects using a holistic approach that reflects organization goals.
  • Developing budgets and timelines for internal customers. 
  • Coordinating teams/individuals required to meet project milestones. 
  • Copy editing and proofreading materials before they are finalized. May occasionally provide content/copy for a project.
  • Utilizing Mary’s Meals agile project management platform (Jira Service Desk) to submit and track editorial, design, video, email and website requests with Mary’s Meals International.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

The role of the Marketing and Email Coordinator requires excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills, in order to act as a liaison between the internal customers and other involved parties. Additional skills and qualifications include: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects.
  • Creative thinker—must be able to brainstorm and visualize unique opportunities for the internal customers as well as MMUSA as a whole.
  • Skills and experience reviewing email and web analytics, and using the data to help drive decision making.  
  • Exceptional system, process, and organizational skills. Excellent time management skills. Must be able to manage multiple projects seamlessly. 
  • Skilled in navigating challenging conversations, i.e., deadline and budget conversations. Default is to seek solutions that aim to find satisfactory resolution for all parties.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly, highly self-motivated, with an enthusiastic and a proactive attitude.  
  • Strong interpersonal/customer service skills. 
  • Experience managing and preparing budgets. 
  • Ability to work remotely with a geographically dispersed team.

Requirements 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business or related field preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience as a marketing account executive or marketing coordinator. 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills. 
  • Experience operating based on data and analytical evaluation. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, project management platform(s), content management systems, email platforms and social media platforms.
  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM management system helpful.
